Sometimes, all a person can do is say just one prayer.
A brave heroine with a broken heart Miss Mabel Callahan leaves the city of Boston to make a fresh start out West as a mail-order-bride. She longs to leave the past behind, but finds it hard to forgive those who have wronged her. Everything will be better when she meets her fiancé and his two little ones in New Mexico. She will have a family and provide a stable home for her ailing mother.
Just when she thought she had a plan in place, the unexpected occurs, and Mabel needs to make a choice.
A sweet, inspirational, historical romance about never giving up, forgiveness, and the power of love, it can be read as a stand-alone or as a companion to the Grace Church series.

When her dress shop was destroyed because she was Irish, Mabel Callahan decides to become a mail order bride and take her mother to New Mexico with her. Her husband-to-be has second thoughts, and Mabel and her mother have to regroup and make some new decisions, but, when the man says he regrets his mistake and wants another chance, what’s a woman to do - especially when a sweet, handsome sheriff might be becoming more than just a friend?Because it was so short, this novella didn't have the space to develop a lot of depth. There were also a few mistakes, such as “light” for “like,“ and no one would have been saying “break our fast” for “breakfast” in 1877. However, I though it was still well-done to be so short. I enjoyed the last half much more than the first half, so I’d advise readers to stick with it. The ending is worth it.

One Prayer Redemption Church Book 1 edition by Jan Holly Religion Spirituality eBooks Reviews
This is a really great book!
A sweet story. Not much to it. I ask, how many button holes would a laundry place need made in a day? A nice read in a short amount of time.
Wonderful story, God is no respector of persons. He cares for His own, giving then the desires of their hearts.
I enjoyed reading this book very much. There were a few twists and turns that made this book really stand out over the usual mail order bride books.
I just read this book for a 2nd time. It's a mail order bride story with a twist, and I really enjoyed it. I enjoyed watching the relationship develop and also the interaction between mother and daughter.
The author made the main characters lovable and gave good advice through her characters' dialogue. I found myself rooting for a good resolution to problems and a happy ending. This clean romance will endure because it offers a timeless plot and universal appeal.
This is a wonderful story. It was hard for me to put this book down. I fell in love with Mabel and her Mother. As they traveled from Boston to the Wild West as a Mail Order Bride only to find that plans had changed by Mr. Dempsey. I personally didnt like Mr. Dempsey I thought he was not the right person or man for Mabel. On the other hand I think the Sheriff (Mr. Lapahie) and Mabel are the perfect match. this book is worth keeping and read it again at a later date.
